and the journey continues

I am a stress case. I am sure anyone who know me can appreciate how I get. The past week I have spent trying to read through horrible works of graduate students. All the while I am thinking about my running schedule. I have exactly 31 days until the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. I am stressing (of course!) because I feel unprepared. Why it matters if I finish in 2 hours, 20 minutes like I did in my first half, but it does. I tell myself it is all about the fun, all about the experience, all about running with my friend, but that is all a lie. I know that it matters. So... I run. I run as often as possible. I run on the dreaded treadmill (or dreadmill as Marlene called it yesterday) because I now have this little 4 year old sidekick. I miss my carefree runs in Hawaii where I could enjoy the outdoors. While I run, I worry and stress. Not fast enough. Not far enough. Never enough. I drive myself crazy. Oh well. I am probably neurotic. So I run...

  1. Oh my Lord, woman. Let me give you a little reality check (out of love, of course): I am currently in physical therapy for a bulging disk. I am not allowed to run. I am not allowed to spin (which is my drug of choice). I am not allowed to do yoga or any of its derivations. My jeans don't fit and I'm crabby. Just ask my husband.

    So there. Knock it off.

    love,
    me

  2. So sorry to hear that Karen. I couldn't run for 6 weeks and it was really hard. Running is my therapy, that is for sure. How long are you down?

  3. It depends on how I respond to therapy. At least a month. After all my Christmas eating, this is really killing me!
