Team Jester at Badwater - Part 2 - To Be Continued

As I sit here the day after Ed finished Badwater in 32 hours, I am overwhelmed. I was trying to sort out my thoughts to write the story that was the 2012 Badwater 135 as I saw it.

Words are not enough to describe the adventure this was.

It is too much to think about what happened this week.

Too many moments I was choked up or outright cried.

Too many times I felt amazing inspiration.

At least a dozen times I saw outright suffering and felt tangible hurt for the runner, and cried for them too.

Over 32 hours I yearned to run this race myself. In quiet moments, I daydreamed about it. I imagined what it must feel like to run in such an elite field. Wondered if I will ever get the chance.

Many times I saw extreme worry and distress in Martha's eyes as she thought about Ed and what he was working so hard to accomplish.

I heard over and over how the Mini Jester was going to run Badwater in 2020 and smiled at the thought.

I had the opportunity to see my husband at his finest. Shed a few tears over that too. He unselfishly looked after Ed and every other runner that he came in contact with. He carried the roster with him to learn their names. He was an amazing example of friendship and sportsmanship to our son.

So, I ask for your patience as I take some time to get a grip on myself and what I experienced in the past few days. I promise to share it all with you, but I need a little more time.
